Johannes Fichtenbauer was born 1956 in Vienna, Austria. He holds an MA in Catholic Theology and serves as head deacon in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna.
Johannes has been married to his wife Christi for almost 40 years. They have 4 children (one boy and three girls, ranging in age from 22 to 35), and 3 grand children. Johannes and Christi were involved in the beginnings of the Charismatic Renewal of the Catholic Church in the early 1970’s. They founded – together with other leaders – an ecumenical charismatic covenant community, which played a central role in promoting the unity of the Body of Christ in Austria.
Johannes is also president of the ENC, a network of like-minded covenant communities throughout Europe. He also is one of the founders of the “Weg der Versöhnung” (path for reconciliation), which is the broadest ecumenical initiative in Austria. In addition to his other involvements, Johannes is an active member of the International Eldership of Toward Jerusalem Council II.
